Tom Cross President TOM CROSS assumed the role of company president at Black Book, a Hearst Business Media Company, on January 1, 2007, having previously held the position of senior vice president and general manager since 2003. Bringing over 25 years of automotive experience to his current role, with over 10 years as a senior executive, Tom has been credited with a number of innovative product launches while at Black Book including the creation of Black Book’s Commercial Vehicle Guide and the launch of daily used value updates. His additional responsibilities include management oversight of Veretech Holdings after championing Hearst’s purchase of the company in 2007.
Tom first joined the Hearst Business Media family in 2000 when he accepted a position with Motor Information Systems in Troy, Michigan. While there, his responsibilities grew to include management of all of Motor’s data licensing and editorial operations. Before joining Hearst, Tom spent 15 years with the Ford Motor Company where he had extensive dealer field experience in multiple markets across the US and international exposure. During his career with Ford he assumed progressive responsibilities in sales and marketing, culminating in product marketing management for future vehicle programs. Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Economics from Wittenberg University in Springfield Ohio, and earned a Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of Chicago while working full time in the US and internationally. Tom currently lives with his wife and two daughters in a suburb of Atlanta. He enjoys hiking with his family in the Georgia Mountains and is an avid reader in his spare time.
